I'm in medical school and want to change fields. Is it too late for me?

I'm 24 in my first semester in medical school in the Carribean. My unhappiness here is mostly due to the fact that I am becoming a doctor for the wrong reasons (money and prestige) and have a relatively moderate passion for the field. I dread everyday of med school, not because its hard (im a decent student), but because I feel that this is not the right field for me. im not sure if i can persevere 7+ more years of education for a profession that does not fit me.

My true passion is in design, so I am considering going back for a Bachelors in a engineering field. The only thing I just feel ashamed of is like that im going backwards in time for second bachelors degree (it'll take around 2+yrs). This is something could have done 4 years ago if I didnt consider medicine. I don't know what to do anymore. Should I even stay in med school? Am I too late and old for another bachelors?

My current bachelors i have is useless on its own. Financing my education is not a big issue.

If you have doubts like that then get out. Money and prestige are big factors, but if they are the main reasons to becoming a doctor then get out. Engineers make good money and it's an honorable profession.

well...the best factor to become a doctor is humanity, money and prestige will come later. At first, I feel the same thought like you (to think that I study in this field to get prestige and money), but then I feel that there's something satisfying when we sees the sick people cured from our hand or prescription. The feeling that you wont get from other field...
but of course to have that feeling you have to have a strong humanity within you, If you dont have one, I suggest you to change your path....do not waste your time in this lifetime-humanity-committed-field
