Is medical residency considered a part of education or part of the job ?

| It counts as job experience for sure. You still have to study, and you are also training at that time. Studying as a physician never stops you are required to keep your skills intact by reading some journal they publish. I am not sure about getting paid for it, sometimes it depends on where you go, best person to ask would be an academic advisor. I have heard of residents getting paid 30-50k a year. |

| Yes you get paid as a resident after medical school. It's not a lot compared to what you make in your own practice but it's good money around $30/hour. You bust your butt working day/night in hospitals rotating through different areas like ER, critical care, pediatrics, etc. You have to do it for 4 years before you can be a general doctor then longer if you want a specialty like surgery, pediatrics, radiology, etc. |
